The Korey Bowers Foundation Scholarship
The Korey Bowers Scholarship was established by his parents, Kyle and Christina Bowers. From an early age Korey had an infectious personality and didn’t know a stranger. As he grew older, he found a love for children and working with kids at church, VBS, or camp. He had several hobbies; woodworking, forging, and sailing and he loved the outdoors; hunting, trapping, and fishing. His ultimate favorite thing to do was snowmobiling, he couldn’t wait for the first snowfall to get out on the trails. He would share his hobbies with the youth around him and take those opportunities to show and share who Jesus Christ is.
Along with his missionary parents, Kyle and Christina and his brother Caleb, Korey Bowers served the Lord in Beardmore, NW Ontario, Canada, reaching remote First Nations communities with the Gospel from 2012 to 2021. Korey was a leader in the Northern Lights youth group; in the church his family helped to plant. He led worship on Sunday mornings, served God with all his heart, and was a proven, faithful friend to many. Korey was also a member of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets where he loved to compete in marksmanship and thoroughly enjoyed cadet field trips and drill competition.
A talented and hard-working musician, Korey’s life goal was to serve his Savior through full-time Christian ministry in camp leadership and worship. Korey loved to serve the Lord at Bible Camp. He grew in his walk and in his service to the Lord through camp ministry. He was a camper and when he was old enough, he served as camp staff: a counselor, activity leader, worship leader, and cleaning crew. He was a talented singer and guitarist. He was able to make a recording and a couple songs are available on various music platforms. He loved the Lord Jesus as his Savior, and he had a passion to see others know and accept Jesus as well. He stood firm in his faith and shared the gospel often with others. He had a love for people and would often seek out those who were hurting or alone to befriend and encourage them. He had a way of making people laugh with his contagious personality, big smile, and energetic attitude. Korey chose to live and live fully for Christ.
He left Beardmore in the summer of 2021 to fulfill his goals by studying God’s Word and preparing for ministry at Frontier School of the Bible in LaGrange, WY. While there the impact he had on the student body was immeasurable. Sadly, on November 17th, 2021, his 18th birthday, Korey died in an automobile crash just outside of LaGrange. As tragic and heartbreaking as his death is for so many, we rejoice that Korey had the assurance of his salvation because his faith was in Jesus Christ as his Savior.
Korey’s single desire in life was to glorify God – and to know Christ and make Him known to others. His smile, his words, and his actions reflected His love for his Savior to everyone he met. It is with joy that we have the opportunity to offer this scholarship in memory of Korey Nathaniel Bowers. Our prayer is that Korey’s steadfast love for Jesus and his example of faithful service will inspire each and every scholarship recipient to fully surrender and trust Christ with the plans He has prepared for them.
